» Retrieving deleted forum from past backup

Hello all, I am one of the admins at a rather large forum. Recently, an entire forum has been deleted (on accident). The last backup was done last Sunday, so it wouldn't be very wise to replace the active DB with the older one (since close to 5,000 posts would be deleted). Is it at all possible to somehow retrieve the now deleted forum from the past backup and leave the other forums and posts as is right now? I am guessing that it would require the modification/posting of the mySQL Database. Can someone please tell me if this task is achievable at all? The board is running vBulletin 3.0.6 and the main admin has direct access to the mySQL database and complete access over the server it is hosted on. Thank you for your time, -RussYou wou...... - 2009-07-04

» Is it expensive and time consuming to try to brew my own beer?

its not illegal. don't listen to him but time consuminggIt is not illegal... and after the initial investment in equipment it isn't expensive either. It can be time consuming, however. If you use extracts to brew (kind of like corn syrup... but made out of barley) it doesn't take that long... but brewing from grains can take the better part of an afternoon. The product is worth it, however... and it is fun!No. If you've never done it before mabye you would want to check out a BOP (brew on premises) place. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=...Its not illegal to brew your own beer or make your own wine ,but I think is illegal to sell it .But its great fun and once you have everything you need its cheap ...... - 2009-07-04

I have about eight videos. I have combined them with Windows Movie Maker AND Photobucket, and because of this, the video will not go onto youtube. Any tips (i.e. Programs that WILL work, or any help) ?Ensure the file format is correct before uploading to youtube... Using windows movie maker -- you have to save it into the proper file format, that is "wmv" file (use the "save movie file" on the menu at the top left) before upload.. The WMV file will be smaller in size but still quite good quality.. so uploading it will be faster. --for best editing.... use windows movie maker (included in your windows machine)... it can help you make beautiful slideshow or video clip(e.g. mixing your songs with pictures/video/etc).... then save i...... - 2009-07-04

» Marketing has often been criticized for forcing people to buy things they don't really need. ?

Marketing has often been criticized for forcing people to buy things they don't really need. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Its very true that marketing uses every form of persuasion to make people buy their products, but there is no force, and fraud in advertising is illegal. that's not much of an answer, so I'd have to say that each case would have to be evaluated separately to determine whether the advertising is ethical or not. For example, tobacco and alchol have additional limits on their advertising and this is appropriate because the products can be dangerous. Thus marketers have a responsibility to not try to persuade people to use a dangerous product, but only to choose their brand.Totally a...... - 2009-07-04

» user settings in windows xp

I have Windows XP and my wife and I have different user settings. When I'm on line and find a site I'd like to share a bookmark and put on her favorites I don't know how to do it. Also when I download someting to word that she wants how do I get it to her user setting? When I copy to paste and then switch users, windows won't paste into her user settings. her settings.keithf... Frustrating, isn't it? XP was designed to segregate user settings in a big way, so they actually created separate, space-consuming directories that duplicate a lot of links, and waste space. There's a way around it, fortunately, although it's tedious. Assuming you are the "administrator", who created the other user settings, l...... - 2009-07-04

» Learning guitar by myself.?

I am apparently getting a guitar for Christmas. However, I don't really want to go to an instructor, and I wish to self teach myself, since I don't have easy access to transportation. I have access to the internet and books, and I was wondering what the best approach to learning guitar by myself was. I was thinking about learning how to play a simple song by just reading tabs and playing slowly until I could get it, then learning the chords and getting in depth with EADGBE. Please help, and thanks. www.ultimate-guitar.com Think of some songs you want to play, and then search for tabs on that website. That's how I learned. » (Sigma) 28-70 vs 24-70

Ok, here's my question. Right now I've got my (bad) 18-55 lens that came in with my camera and a Sigma 70-200 f2,8 (which I'm quite happy with). I'd like to get a better lens with less zoom than the 70-200, but if possible, something that covers the distance not used by the 18-55 nor the 70-200. So I ended up with these two lenses: Sigma 24-70 F2,8 EX DG MACRO C for 475 and the Sigma 28-70 F2,8 EX DG C for 338 Quite a lot of difference in price for the minor zoom / Macro option. The type of photography I like most is street photography, so I don't really need the macro (my 70-200 is also a "macro" one, so when photographing still life / flowers I'll just use that one I guess). So, to ...... - 2009-07-04

He is part of a 2 headed running back monster plus Delhomme is not throwing the ball well. He should be a major part of the rushing attack for Carolina today. With the Enterprise, AL tragedy fresh in our minds, a few thoughts came across my mind. Since part of the issue at hand was early dismissal, which may have been cancelled or maybe not considered at all (heresay so far), I was wondering the following: On High Risk days such as this, would it be wise for school districts to cancel school and let kids stay at home, with the availability of tornado shelters and importantly, away from schoolbuses that could be hit by tornadoes on their way home from school? I am starting to think that that may be something important to consider.Sort of a hard question there. » What is the reason that linked genes are inherited together?

A. Chromosomes are unbreakable B. They are located close together on the same chromosome C. The number of genes in a cell is greater than the number of chromosomes D. Genes align that way during metaphase I of meiosis E. Alleles are paired together during meiosisB. They are located close together on the same chromosome The problem is partly in the language, which I admit we sometimes get sloppy with, but to be specific: linked genes are inherited together, however alleles of the same gene cannot be linked because alleles are forms of a gene, but alleles of *different* genes *can* be linked. » Help me pick between 2 canon L zooms...

Battle of the Ls...appreciate the advice! EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Vs. EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Gah. So expensive, but I think I've convinced my mother to go for it (don't laugh, I'm 18 and it's my graduation present) So far I'm leaning towards the 24-105 because it has the IS, a bigger range, and I don't think I would need the extra f stops for anything other than a hand holdable shutter speed, which the IS should cover, no? (I've never used an IS lens) The idea of being able to switch from very wide angle to portrait range is pretty incredible...I'm leaning heavy towards the 24-105, but the other lens is fairly similar, is there any reason to consider it? » How can I create a Server-Side Redirect (transparent) on IIS 6?

I have an IIS6 server which is redirecting all external requests (say to portal.example.com) to http://localservername/ via means of a 302 (temp redirect). This is because I have not set up a Server Side Redirect (as I've been told by David Wang of the IIS team at Microsoft). My question is how do I set up a transparent redirect so requests to portal.example.com are immediately handled by the server and not 302'ed??Go to the properties of the website, under the "Home Directory" tab change it to "A redirection to a Url" Put in the site you want to redirect to. I'm looking for a list of the most popular names (male and female) in Germany. Answers would have to include: - The list of the top 500 and the top 1000 names (male and female) - Detailed statistics: number of population covered by the top 500 names and top 1000 names - Source of the information - A list broke down by age would be a plus ThanksDear phoboscausa, I strongly doubt that such a list exists anywhere. There is no national agency collecting and publishing data of this kind in Germany. Although regulated by Federal laws, names are mainly under the responsibility of the countless local civil register offices, with no centralized analysis. He believed that a colony that was 3,000 miles away from and larger than its controlling power should be able to break away from that nation (i.e., America from Britain). He didn't think it made sense that America continued to be harassed and controlled by the British government (hence Common Sense). He was a Deist, if you are looking for his religion. Deists believed there was a Supreme Creator, but denied the divinity of Jesus. It was a religious movement from the Enlightenment, based on reason. He also believed that all churches were put in place to control people and gain power, appalling religious Americans. ...... - 2009-07-04

» How do you change a shift shaft seal on a 93 ford ranger auto trans, 4.0 v6. ?

I have only rebuilt a GM Turbo 350 automatic, but this should be similar. You will have to remove the trans pan to get at the shifter shaft. After disconnecting it from the manual shift valve on the valve body, you may be able to remove the shaft. It will need to be out of the way to get to the seal. If you are lucky, you won't need to remove the whole valve body to do this. With the shaft removed, you should be able to carefully drive out the seal from inside the trans. Carefully drive the new seal in place with a seal driver or a socket that is the same diameter. I may be way off base since this is a Ford trans. Hope this helps.I remove the drive shaft, put a pan down to catch any fluid coming out. Pry out the old one any way I can...... - 2009-07-04

Could someone explain how wireless flash systems work, what equipment is needed to set one up, etc. A friend sent me a link (http://www99.epinions.com/content_141616320132) to a device that you can attach to any flash to make it a slave but I had thought you needed another flash that could be set up as Commander (or the in-camera flash if the cam supports it) that would trip the flash. I know wireless systems suffer from the problem that any random Schmoe with a P&S can turn on the flash and then trigger the remote flash. Does that mean a Commander isn't needed or does the Commander use a pre-flash to set-up the remote before it actually fires it??? » Is Kyoto just a transfer of power from the west to the east?

I was reading the news about Stephen Harper and how he opposed the Kyoto accord in the past before he was prime minister, and that now that he is, they are blasting him, having revealed a letter he wrote as to why he opposed it. But I thought he brought up a valid point. His point was that what they were asking of Canadians reduced carbon dioxide but didn't address pollution, and that in doing this, it would hurt our economy terribly and just pass industry over the China and other eastern countries, who would create even worse pollution than exists now, because they don't have enough laws addressing this currently. This kind of makes you wonder what the powers that govern really have in mind when they make decisions like th...... - 2009-07-04

» php: shell_exec not working

I am trying to make system calls in php using shell_exec on my (dedicated) server. Running php 4.3.9 under Redhat EL 4. It works OK with unix-native commands such as 'ls' or with commands that I place in the /bin directory. However, if I place a command in another directory, and call it by full path with shell_exec, nothing happens. I don't think it is a permission problem, since I can log on the shell as a different user, and execute the command OK. On the other hand, I am experiencing this problem only on this particular server. I have access to two other unix boxes, and none exhibit this problem, so I am inclined to think there is a configuration problem. Any ideas ?I think on this server is open_basedir or safe_mode enabled....... - 2009-07-04

» Ok so i have this problem with is kid?

this kid in my school chases me around and i am pissed at him so much i wish i could punch him. but he a damn tattle Teller. what the heck should i do. i hate him tooHonestly, confront him first. Tell him you don't want to "play" with him and it is very "displeasing" ( i'm sure you can find better words lol) Tell him plain and simple and don't try to be to nice, some people don't understand nice. Ask him why he's chasing you around and to knock it off and back off. If he does not stop or even listen talk to a teacher. Teachers will confront the kid first and hopefully that will scare him off. » How can I find a estimate price on a Amtrak ticket and a hotel room in Florida besides the Amtrak website?

I asked this question because I want to see my homeboy that's in Pembroke pines and I haven't seen him in a minute..Without knowing where you are I can only tell you to find a local travel agent who will find a hotel & train tickets. You will travel on Amtrak. Check this one out: http://www.trainweb.com/agencies.htmlI visited Florida last year to vist friends. The hotel I stayed at was OK, but I wouldn't stay there again. I found a list of hotels in Florida here: http://www.hotelroomfinder.org/Florida-H... I'm sure you can find a hotel to call and help get you situated. I hate Wisconsin, maybe I should move to Florida......... - 2009-07-04
