I need to know what exactly was the compensation paid out by the
British Raj (british government in India) to the affected people in
the famous 1935 Earth Quake in Quetta. Quetta was a part of British
India in 1935 and after 1947 the city is now part of modern day
Pakistan.I can't argue with that.
It looks like someone would have to search local archival information in Quetta.
Unfortunately, "Dawn", the major English language newspaper in
Pakistan was not founded until 1941 (in 1938, in Delhi, it seems), but
maybe it is worth asking there:

The Times of India was also founded in 1938, but the Hindustan Times
was founded in 1924, and would very likely have reported on the
earthquake. Of course, online archives only go back to 2004.

Do you have any information that indicates that the funds were
distributed in cash to families after the earthquake? (Not all the
300k pounds = 15 lakh rupees went to helping the civilian population.)
I could imagine that the figure represents the value of material aid
to those in need, just as happens today after earthquakes.
MyoarinI do have eye witness of the quake (my grand parents). They do
remember that cash was given out, but they can't remember the amount.

It was a brief clipping from the Times in 1935 that mentioned (as best
I remember) that the British government spent a rupee amount
equivalent to 300,000 pounds sterling, most of it spent on the
civilian population.
"Compensation" was not a word used (and wouldn't seem appropriate,
since normally one compensates for something one has done oneself, not
