I do talk baby talk to him not even thinking about it. Telling him how pretty he is. He wiggles around and comes close to the glass and flares real pretty. He will do this until I walk away. He will come to the top of the water if I talk to him. Maybe he is just wanting me to leave him alone. What do you think? Just curious......when bettas flare out like that they are trying to look big and tough to scare off predators i.e. you. if he goes to the top of the tank he is probably expecting you to feed him.do you mean he is puffing his gills up? if so then that means a challenge. its what male bettas do when they come close to another bettait,s funny you ask that, when i go to feed mine,i have one that reminds me of a puppy wagging it,s tail,it just wiggles but doesn,t flair,i think it knows i feed it.Bettas can't understand English, so he just thinks that you're another enemy and flares at the glass.
Eventually he'll find out that you're the one that feeds him ;)Yes,as a matter a fact i have one too. It;s a she and whenever i got to the tank she always folows and goes close!!:) Of course if your fish glares or something they might be angry or thinks your an enemy but I bet hell get use to you sometime later on.I think so,they are very smart, and mine used to miss me when I would leave,I havent left for about a month,so he isnt as active about it,but he would sulk, then be mad at me... It's funny you should say that. I was thinking the same thing about mine. When I first got him, he used to hide. But now he watches me watch TV. And when I get near the glass he comes up and if I put my finger in the water, he touches it with his nose. I know he knows who I am. I also talk to him.I had a betta at one time that knew his name and would answer simple yes-no questions for me. Of course, that was just my silly mind thinking he was answering, but it still seemed like it. :)
If I walked into the room, he'd watch me go sit on my bed, which was straight across from his tank (on my dresser). I'd say, "Hello, Brice!", and he'd swim to the top and back down to the middle again.
"Do you love me?" Swim up and down a couple times.
"Are you lying to me?" Shake back and forth.
"Are you hungry?" Swim up and down and back up to the top of the tank and wait for food.
I had a blackskirt tetra that did the same thing, only not to that degree. He's just swim next to me as I walked by, and if I sat in front of the tank, he'd swim by my face a few times.
Oh, and I have a buenos aires tetra that knows when I scold him. If he's chasing another fish like he always does, all I have to do is say "No" and point my finger at him and he'll swim the other way. He knows who to listen to. lol
It was strange, because it was like they understood me, although I think it was kind of like the bond a person can have with their dog or cat, too.
So, to put it simply, yes, bettas can show affection to their owners.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
