How come atheists get all the smack about being cruel and judgmental but when we play along we get smack too?

let me tell you, it don't matter what you are, you are gonna get smack. i am a Christian and i get smack from Christians same as i do others! it just goes with the territory!! i guess you must have thick skin have a great day

I don't claim to be perfect and I'm sure I've rubbed people the wrong way before, unintentionally of course. I try very hard to be thoughtful and caring in my answers (unless of course it's a humorous question and who doesn't love to laugh and smile?).

I can tell you that there are times when I make sure to point out to other Christians that they're words/behaviors are highly contradictory to the teachings of the Bible and they are not being good representatives of Christ.

I don't recall making it a habit to point this out to non-believers though.

I think anyone, regardless of belief system, can be judgmental and crass from time to time. Those who do it often and with obvious intention, well, that just proves there is a lack of maturity.

First before I can answer your ?,just who are "we" & what kind'a smack do you mean,the kind that gets ya high? LoL

it's a contest between closed-minded people (atheists and theists) to see who can feel best about themselves by belittling those who have an opposite belief.

I hope no catholics partake!

Debate all you want. Just avoid the threats.

Example:

Theist: I think God is real.

Atheist: I lack belief in gods.

Bad Examples:

Theist: You are going to hell for not believing in my god, etc.

Atheist: You are an imbecile for believing in that specific god, etc.

I think the key to a good debate is to keep things impersonal. I've had shortcomings in this area as well - most of us have said things we regret on an anonymous forum. But having an opinion means you judge by definition - choose the best answer from other possibilities. It's the cruelty that we should avoid.

Atheists haven't hired a good enough PR firm.

Having read some of your recent questions, I was wondering about that myself.

I normally discourage either side being cruel and judgmental, but frankly, I'm sick of the hypocrisy.

Do as I say, not as I do.
