On-going Poll: Which System

  • what platform would you MOST likely to prefer?

  • other> Gameboy Advance SP

  • That's right.

  • I wish there was a tie button, because it would be GameCube and Xbox for me.

  • PC is BY FAR the best in my opinion...but you're prolly looking at around 1000-$1500 at least for a state of the art system

xbox and ps2 are pretty darn good considering they cost a fraction of what a PC costs

    -teet

  • well its obvious that pc is by far great due to its specs especially with video cards to choose from. If xbox or ps2 had the same sorta specs then it wuld be uselss updating xbox and ps2

  • I chose X-box even though I dont have one. I just do to my friends house every day and play Mech Assult online, which has to be the greastest game for the X-box out right now :pleased: It's also much more dependable and is actually able to run what you put in it, and costs MUCH less than a PC, and you dont have to deal with viruses and stuff :a:

My PS2 never does this... ;)

  • In my opinion, there is only ONE way to go...
An Xbox, surround sound, and a digital projector....

    I GAVE AWAY MY PS1 AND 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    --who farted?--:gm:

  • pc for me coz i can work and play at the same time :P

  • Thank you El. Took the words right outta my mouth...well no but I was gonna say something sort of similar. Yea Right. I'll stick to the boob joke...

  • superfluous

  • MUAHHAAHHAAHAH. I know right?

  • I'm gonna go preorder HL2 and Doom3 together from Amazon for £50

  • Massive Xylophone!

  • I knew a thread like this was gonna pop up =)
I chose Xbox, but I actually should've chosen PC because I play alot more on the PC, and I have the ability to play online here (easily). I'm not getting Live just yet ;)

  • spaghetti.

  • DDD hadda kill it :sigh:.

  • I want to believe that, but Microsoft's stupid, so they probably first chose "XP" then tried to find a scapegoat word to pin with the acronym.

  • the shortcut SP is superfluous, not the product itself (like the shortcuts CS (completely superfluous), MX (moronic eXtension) )

  • I chose PC but it depends what you want to do on the console they each have their high points

I reckon it's got more to do with the fact that it has much better games and far more scope for online/multiplayer gaming. I can't stand split-screen :-

My PS2 never does this... ;) I'm sure you haven't played Enter the Matrix yet (or have you?), but that game crashes every system/console it's on. I was watching my cousin play it on his PS2 and all of a sudden, the game just froze. I've heard enough stories about the game and Xbox, but the PS2?

Don't even get me started on the PC version...:hangover:

  • PC!
I would choose my PC, as i can install loads of games, play them online and use the pc for other stuff when not playing games.

I love those new mini-pc things, they look so cool, might get one when the price of them comes down and when i can afford a flat screen.

  • Don't get me started on the Sims. I've always wondered why people love that game so much, while I...just...raaah! :bad:

  • Personally I'm all for the PlayStation. One and Two. Alright, so the XBox is a better spec, but the range of games and the longevity and backwards compatibility of PlayStation just makes it more worthwhile. All my favourite games are on PS. If I look at my games collection, there's 5 XBox games and about 20 PS2. 40 odd if I count my PS1 stuff.

Plus most Final Fantasy games are on PlayStation, so it's no real contest. ;)

  • Do you really think they would name it Game Boy Advance Spaghetti? And please, don't say it could happen. Ridiculous I tell ya...

  • I not know :h:
I like the game cude and i have it but i would love to have a XBox too because of XBox live and i have a PC with some game and they are geat and have ADSL so on-line gameing on my PC is graet too.

    so just can't pick :scream:

  • halo 2 will for sure put xbox on a whole new level......and I still play halo to this day. I was one of those freaks outside at 5am to be the first to get one and I bought halo as my first game......and it is still fun to this day.

  • I must say the SP is bomb.....I play tony hawk undeground on it and it is very fun......gamecube has just been sitting for a while....still say xbox kills everyone

  • So what settings are you trying to play it with? The fact that it crashes in the same place would suggest that it's your software. Have you tried backing up your save games and reinstalling?

  • Service Pack? :D

I'm pretty sure it stands for Special... it is after all, very special :thumb:

  • Alright, now that SP's out of the way, what does MX stand for?

    *tsk tsk* :sure:
    :P

i voted ps2, i really dont know about the x-box, i am buyin one(not anytime soon), but theres somethings i don't like about it:

    A. the controller is just unbelievable it 2 big! really unwanted, a firm in japan made smaller controllers!
    B. the system(the box) itself is 2 big, i no i'm talking design, shape, and size, but arent' they improtant when it comes to gaming consoles!
    C. not as many games as the ps2, very simple.
    D. the fees for the 'live' connection for xbox, r unreasonable, u don't have 2 pay any fees for the ps2!!!

    alright thats wat i think

    A. It does seem big indeed, but believe me, once you get the hang of it, it's really handy and good, it lays well in your hand, better than you would suspect. I thought it looked big at first too, but it turned out to be allright.
    B. Don't quite fully understand what you're going for there, but the size is allright, there IS a harddrive in there. Besides, the design isn't too bad either.
    C. True, but hopefully that'll change in the future.
    D. I'm a good sportsman: I totally agree with you on that part: it's a pity we have to pay for Live, and PS2 doesn't. :sigh:

  • um.. then you just have to find the required number of consoles, TVs, friends and cables. Oh and space. aka total ****ing pain in the arse. :)

yep it's nr1 because i have ownage pc. gamecube ruled to.

  • actually there are quite a few......ghost recon....to the EA Live sports series. I dont think PC has any sports games that you can play online (well basketball). Project Gotham man there are a bunch of good ones. But I still like pc games but xbox is closing the gap. But yes PC has them beat by far on available games.

Give it a few years I think xbox will be an appliance. :beam: But I will still play a few PC games here and there.

  • I have PS2 and Xbox, and even though I love my Xbox, the PS2 just has better game support.

  • what about all the other consoles leading up to these "mega machines" i think we all should have in our minds the machines that paved the way for these great machines.

but i am voting for PC just cause of the huge posibilities of it all !!

    peace
    E1kO

  • Yea yea :sure:...Oh my lord! I'm happy to see you think the great X-Box is just a bulletproof computer!
    - Sharif :egg:

  • yeh i agree with cowboy, if it isnt a legal copy then it would do those auto close during gameplay. If its real then your comp's having complications with hardware settings.

And of course it runs on ur ps2 probably. Why wouldnt it? console to tv :P ps2 doesnt have crap like modems, progs and system files so it wouldnt have problems running.

    ---------
A lot of people when i passed by go for ps2. Xbox is better at specs with 733mhz cpu, 250mhz nvidia video, 6:1 compressed textures, 64 ram DDR, 6.4gb memory, 256 audio channels and with hardware audio. Even the gamecube also with 485mhz cpu lolz But i use a pc anyway (128 ati raedon 9800 vs 733mhz celeron?? ahahaah :P

though, ps2 has a better range of games overall though im still stciking with pc, halos on pc now anyway....

  • game support?

I've noticed though that if it's going to crash, then it will always do it at the same place - just after I finish building a house. Humbug. :P

I will agree that EA are just milking it now. I own the main Sims game and two expansion packs, but most of them are just extraneous nonsense so I never bothered with them. The new one - myth and magic? What is the point of that? :h: And at £20 a throw, plus £40 for the original game, it's no surprise EA are rolling in it... :sure:

  • This is kinda off topic now that we've moved on..

but I always thought MX stood for maximize...

  • What's SP stand for?

  • I hope they come out with a sequel for True Crime: Streets of L.A! I'm addicted to that game!

  • Split-screen does suck a lot of soccer balls (nuts). Esecially when you're playing a game like halo and you pick up a rocket launcher and then someone comes from behind you and it takes like 10 minutes turn around :ro:.

  • PS2 as most ppl have them and therefore have a level playing field?

P.S. anyone ever played an 8 man multi tap'd game?

    would highly recomend it

  • Alright, cheers to FireDrake101 and BadMagick!!!

    - BTW, FD101, have you played HALO??? If so, that's the greatest game :thumb:.

I've got an XBox, and I can't get on with the original controller, it's too big for my dainty little hands. :sure: But then I found the smaller Japanese controller, and it rocks. :) So much easier to play MKDA. :beam:

  • SP stands for Ninstenpdo
    MX Macromxedia
    XP Bixll Gatpes

  • ahahaha! :P

  • no question about it, pc is best for graphics and performance... especially fps's are a lot better such as counter-strike, and strategies like wc3 n ****... ra95 edition ;)

  • I'm not sure what MX or SP means but CS stands for Creative Suite...

    - And yes, XBOX is a system for men, I think the big controller is perfect. If you're not a girl and you don't like the big controller, you got "Wussy" written all over you...:P

  • Why would you want gameboy to die? They're awesome systems!

  • I'm gonna get mine reserved.

  • i selected PC , but really pc is not a gaming machine. Some Pc's are built to be able to play games well, but a ps2 or xbox are more Gaming systems since there sole purpose is to play games.

  • I have a feeling Halo 2 will be sold out before the world knows it and bungie will have to create a billion more copies each day :D.

My PS2 never does this... ;) could it be because The Sims isnt that good a game? Could it be that EA spend more time thinking about what expansion packs they can release next to milk the license rather than how to make a stable game?

What kinda of settings are you trying to run it with? And also, is it a legal copy? :sure:

Oh, and for the record, PS2 sucks azz :P

  • I like to think it is spaghetti since thats what I am eating

  • Computers crash, or I'd have voted for them.

That, and the fact that switching an Xbox disc out and popping in a new one is way easier than installing programs, directX, deleting the old games that you don't play anymore, defragmenting the hard drive, restarting, closing all the programs that I have open at the time, and then playing the game with my fingers crossed hoping that it runs.

I've got PS2 right now, but ... I dream of an Xbox ... ah!

That's just stupid - you're talking about a LAN party, not a multiplayer online network. The whole point of net play is that fact that there will always be people to play against. You don't have to find any of that stuff. You obviously already have your PC, monitor, cables and space. You don't need friends to play against specifically - because there are always random people to play against. So yeah, that was a thick thing to say :)

And how many games are there on Xbox that a) support Xbox live and b) are actually worth playing? Now compare that to the PC. :)

  • it just stands for special :P

if you guys could be bothered going to the site it says:

    What does "SP" stand for?

It stands for special. Though the performance is exactly the same as that of the original Game Boy Advance, the Game Boy Advance SP has a flashier design and an internal light. It's like adding in leather seats and a sun roof when you buy a car--they're extra features that are fun to have, but the basic machine is the same. Both models offer outstanding game play value for all players, and both play the same library of over 400 titles.

  • glad my copy is guaranteed and I get t a week early.....heehee

But however, you'll say, you don't if you play online. But that goes for the Xbox as well. Xbox live, you know =)

  • XP stands for experience doesn't it? SP must stand for something :sigh:...
